Tiger Rugs

‘Tiger Rugs’ is a project by the I+I company from 2014. A selection of designers were asked to contribute to a rug collection that interprets the famous Nepalese ‘Tiger Rugs’, of which there remain only about 200 in existence today. These rugs were thought to have magical and protective powers.

These designs pay homage to the Dalai Lama’s statement that “the true Buddhist thinks and believes abstract’” while bringing a more western perspective to the rug. The little I know about Buddhism attracts me but we live in a far more materialistic society so I also wanted to reflect this in my rug designs.
